There's nothing new in the story or the filming, but it's all done well. I personally found "Eragon" entertaining. Christian C Super Reviewer. Dec 02, What the hell was this crap. Bradley W Super Reviewer. Oct 18, What a mess of a bad movie! No one should subject themselves to this unorganized mess of writing and terrible effects. Willis T Super Reviewer. Aug 08, I enjoy a good fantastical story but I had avoided this one due to the bad things I'd heard of it. However, I eventually thought I should still give it go and see for myself.

Seriously though, I wish I'd listened to the naysayers now. Bad dialogue, bad acting, bad movie. If your going to release a fantasy film these days then make sure it has some mileage, as "The Lord of the Rings" has set a very high benchmark.

This was also based on a series of books by Christopher Paolini but it's not even in the same league as some of the quality we've recently been spoiled with. Admittedly, I've never read the books, leaving me unsure as to how the adaptation should be but I do know this It made no effort to even look like the dragon was communicating and just came across as cheap and insulting.

Although some were impressed with the special effects, I didn't find them to be anything special. Speelers doesn't really cut it as the hero of the tale, lacking charisma and any form of acting ability and the rest of the cast seem perplexed. You get the impression from Irons and Malkovich that they know they've made a mistake with this one. The same goes for Carlyle but he still manages to deliver a decidedly nasty villian that's way above this nonsense.

Normally a fantasy yarn has something to hold your interest - no matter how poor - but it just goes to show there are exceptions to that. This is one, and quite possibly the definitive to those exceptions. The only positive that can be taken from this is that due to it's box-office and critical failure, we will probably be spared the adaptations to the rest of the series.

A very bad film indeed and one that I'd rather rate with zero, but I'll through a half a star Robert Carlyle's way. Mark W Super Reviewer. See all Audience reviews. Action Adventure Family Fantasy. Rated PG for fantasy violence, intense battle sequences and some frightening images.

Did you know Edit. Goofs When Arya shows the Saphira's armor to Eragon, the armor is very different than the armor that Saphira wears later - especially the helmet. Quotes Brom : That's the spirit - one part brave, three parts fool. Connections Featured in Smagsdommerne: Episode 4.

Luke for Kasz Money Productions, Inc. User reviews 1. Top review. Good actors, Good special effects, Bad writing. The movie follows nothing of the book's plot line. I think someone read like maybe ten chapters of the Eragon book and decided to make the movie.

If they decide to make Eldest The sequel to Eragon it would be nothing like the book because they have changed too many things in this movie to carry the plot correctly.

The plot of the movie shares nothing with the book and the characters the ones they actually decided to add share no similarities to the book's idea of them. The storyline used in the movie could have possibly been acceptable if it hadn't had such bad writing.

The lines were mediocre and no one other than Brom, Eragon and Saphira had ten lines. Murtagh had like eight or nine lines through the whole movie, Nasuada and Ajihad had like two or three and Nasuada doesn't say who she is and Hrothgar had maybe one or two lines.

They completely rushed the movie too quickly. Unless you read the book, you have no idea how Eragon learns to use magic and are left in the dark about most things. The actors did the best job they could with the horrid lines they were given to read.

Stefen Fangmeier establishes himself as the "Uwe Boll" of family-friendly fantasy. Why has 20th Century Fox released this embarrassment—whose quality would be dubious for a direct-to-video release—into theaters? More than a Star Wars rip-off The only thing missing here is a Chewbacca. The film's few moments of hilarity are no less welcome for being completely unintended Fears that Fangmeier's debut would be the sequel to Dragonheart nobody wanted prove unwarranted. It's the sequel to BloodRayne that nobody wanted.

For those who love the "fantasy" genre known as sword and sorcery—and I count myself in their number—sitting through the movie version of Eragon will suck the will to live right out of you. If you took all the dragon-centered movies ever made, and counted the good ones on your fingers, I bet you'd still have enough fingers left over to flip off Eragon as you walked laughing from the theater.

Snider, EricDSnider. Laughably bad, mind-bogglingly derivative, and easily one of the worst movies of the year. Poor Paolini. Special thanks to Rachel Welsh. Out of a convoluted mess that comes close to becoming Aaron Seltzer's "Fantasy Movie", her voice work stands in recognition.

It'd be better off in any Disney video sequel than this, though. Christopher Paolini has stated that he enjoyed the film. In an open interview [7] held with a fan community in September , he stated that if there were to be another movie, he would be as involved as possible in the process.

He further responded that the movie reflected the film-makers' version of the story, whilst the books reflect his version of the story; he was pleased his book was adapted into a movie, given that few books ever are. Furthermore, the movie introduced many new readers to the series. Paolini also stated that "you have to make peace with the nature of the process when signing on the dotted line. Here is a video of what book author Christopher Paolini said when asked about the movie Eragon.
